Mary O’Coin, Executive Director
Mary was born in Worcester and attended the University of Connecticut. After college, she moved south to Washington, D.C. as the Director of Operations for the National League of POW/MIA Families for nine years. In 1996, Mary returned to Massachusetts and took the position of executive assistant to the president at The MathWorks, Inc. in Natick, MA before taking a long break to raise her two children.
During those years, Mary continually volunteered for local groups and organizations, such as the Sturbridge Cooperative Nursery School, Old Sturbridge Village (OSV), Burgess Elementary School, Tantasqua Education Foundation, and the Tantasqua Music Association. Along the way she has been a Girl Scout leader, an Overseer for OSV, a member of the Harrington Hospital Auxiliary, and planned galas and balls that supported both the American Cancer Society and OSV. Mary is still dedicated to volunteerism and remains a board member for several of these organizations, as well as a member of Women in Business.
While working as a Community Engagement Specialist at Intel in Hudson, MA in 2015, Mary learned more about the United Way and the services the organization provides. In March 2016, she became the Executive Director for United Way of Southbridge, Sturbridge and Charlton. Today, Mary continues to take pride in the United Way as the Executive Director for United Way of South Central Massachusetts.
